The ultimate track set-up

The owner of this pristine White 2009 Porsche GT2 was looking for performance and suspension upgrades that would make his ride the ultimate track car. In addition to some serious suspension upgrades, he wanted to be able to record and review his progress on the track. A Via CAN Data VBox along with two microphones and two in-car cameras were his answer. Using the meticulous expertise of one of our head technicians, we created a custom wiring setup for the camera's, mic's and the VBox.

2009 Porsche GT2 Project

Performance:

The limited slip was removed and reworked to a 40/60 lock-up.

Wevo engine mounts were installed to limit engine and transmission movement.

The factory intercoolers were removed and replaced with performance intercoolers (pictured below). The inlet air duct was custom trimmed by our technician.

A Braille 12V Intensity Lithium Ion battery was installed, a battery of which weighs around 14lbs and is made of carbon fibre sidings. A steel bracket was custom made to secure this ultra lightweight battery in place.

Suspension:

We performed a 4-wheel alignment using one of Autowerks' unique alignment race specs, then adjusted the ride height and corner balance.

The front control arms were removed and replaced with front Cup control arms. A total of 22 rubber boots were installed on all mono balls to protect them from the elements.

The front brake scoops were custom trimmed to avoid tire rubbing on the inside and new rear brake duct scoops were installed. The backing plates on the rotors were modified in order to gain clearance for the new ducts.

Rear upper dog bones were installed along with protective boot covers on corresponding joints. Front upper shock mounts were also installed.

Wheels:

Matte black lightweight Forged rims.

Tires:

Hoosier tires.

Brakes:

Installed steel braided brake lines and performed a brake fluid flush.

Exterior:

Black GT2 decals were put on both sides of the vehicle.

See before and after below.

Interior:

One of our head technicians took it upon himself to create a custom set-up for the customer's Vbox and corresponding cables. The Via CAN Data VBox was installed in the lower section of the centre console which required some modification. It was mounted to ensure that upon removal, the ability to return to the factory look was possible with minimal appearance-related consequences (only one small hole in the upper panel). The corresponding Racelogic screen reader was mounted to the driver's side air vent with a custom fabricated bracket. All CAN lines were wired to the DME and hidden.

Two microphones were installed; one on the inside of the rear windshield and the other in a compartment of the centre console.

Two high-resolution Racelogic cameras were wired up and installed; one to the centre unit of which the rear view mirror is mounted on, and the other to the inside of the rear windshield, as pictured below.
